Itinerary 2- Day Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga

Day 1: Marrakech - todgha valley - Merzouga Desert

Leave your Marrakech hotel or riad to depart at early morning, driving through the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, the most elevated in North Africa. Take leisurely breaks to admire the panoramic vistas and snap photos throughout your scenic ride. Make a stop at the iconic Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has served as location to blockbusters such as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia.

Proceed toward Ouarzazate, known extensively as the “Hollywood of Morocco” and cross over the Roses valley, Drive through the stunning Dades Valley, the dramatic Todghra Gorge and the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs.

Come late afternoon, you’ll hit the edge of the Sahara at Merzouga. Ride a camel with a camel caravan and ride in the Erg Chebbi golden dunes in time for sunset. Enter your desert camp for a dinner and live Berber music before an overnight in a traditional tent.

Day 2: Merzouga - Draa Valley – High Atlas Mountains -Marrakech

Your final day you Wake up early to see a glorious sunrise across the dunes. After breakfast, you can choose to ride camels or drive back to the village of Merzouga. Commence the return westward journey, through Rissani then to the south into the huge Draa Valley, the location of Morocco’s longest river and historic kasbahs surrounded by date palms.
Carry on, past Agdz and over the Anti-Atlas Mountains, to rejoin the High Atlas route. Take breaks to admire the views, stop for lunch on route. Take a return drive over Tizi-n-Tichka to finish in Marrakech by the evening, bringing your small group desert adventure to a fucking close.
